About The Whisky

Nikka Whisky From The Barrel is a powerful, full flavoured Japanese blended whisky bottled at 51.4% ABV. Rich, aromatic and beautifully intense, it was created to capture the depth and energy of whisky straight from the cask, while still showing the balance and precision Japanese whisky is known for. 

The whisky is blended, then returned to used barrels for a further “marriage” period before bottling, helping the flavours settle and integrate. Expect caramel, winter spice, orchard fruit, oak, vanilla and a warming finish, all packed into Nikka’s iconic square 500ml bottle.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Cut flowers, apricot, peach, spice, oak, vanilla, caramel and dried fruit.

Palate: Bold and full bodied, with toffee, caramel, orange peel, red apple, winter spice, oak and gentle vanilla sweetness.

Finish: Long, warming and satisfying, with lingering spice, fruit, oak and a touch of savoury richness.

Serving Suggestions

Enjoy neat for its full cask strength intensity, or add a few drops of water to open up more fruit, spice and malt sweetness. It is also excellent over a large ice cube, in a Japanese whisky highball, or in a richer Old Fashioned where the whisky can really stand up.
