Cherry, raspberry, strawberry and red plum lead the way, with rose, bergamot tea, ginger and subtle dried herbs adding extra lift. The palate is medium bodied and finely textured, with fresh acidity and supple tannins carrying the fruit through to a long, elegant finish. Ata Rangi’s own team describes the 2025 as delightfully drinkable, and that is exactly the appeal here.

About The Winery

Ata Rangi is one of Martinborough’s benchmark Pinot Noir producers, with a reputation built on elegant, savoury wines and a strong connection to the region’s gravelly terraces.

Crimson was first created in 2003 and takes its name from Project Crimson, the charitable trust dedicated to protecting and restoring New Zealand’s native red flowering pōhutukawa and rātā trees. The wine is made as a more youthful, approachable expression of Ata Rangi Pinot Noir while still carrying the perfume, structure and savoury character the producer is known for.

It is polished enough to take seriously, but still relaxed enough to open without waiting for a dinner party or inventing a reason.

Ata Rangi Crimson Pinot Noir 2025 is drinking beautifully now, but it also has enough freshness and structure to develop over the medium term.
