Vinea Marson Shiraz Viognier 2021 is a beautiful Heathcote red with depth, warmth and plenty of character. It has the richness you expect from Heathcote Shiraz, but the small splash of Viognier gives the wine extra lift, perfume and softness.

The 2021 vintage shows raspberry, blackberry, cherry, olive tapenade, pepper, aniseed and vanilla spice oak. It is full flavoured and layered, with rich tannins and a long finish. This is a great bottle for anyone who enjoys bold Australian Shiraz with a little extra aromatic charm.

The palate is full-bodied, with a bold yet refined structure and a textural mouthfeel, supported by balanced acidity that carries into an earthy, spicy and herbaceous finish. Mineral and ferric notes add lift and perfume. A very good Heathcote shiraz.

About The Winery

Vinea Marson is a family owned winery based in Heathcote, Victoria. The Marson family continues four generations of winemaking tradition across Italy and Australia, with Mario Marson bringing old world inspiration to the ancient red soils of Heathcote.

The estate was established in 2000 on the eastern slopes of the Mount Camel Range. Heathcote is well known for Shiraz, and Vinea Marson gives the style a thoughtful twist by blending in a small amount of Viognier. This adds perfume, texture and lift without taking away from the wine’s rich red fruit and savoury depth.

The result is a serious but very enjoyable Heathcote red. It has the power and structure to age, while still offering plenty of flavour and warmth for drinking now.

Cellaring Potential

Vinea Marson Shiraz Viognier 2021 is already drinking well, especially with a short decant. It also has excellent ageing potential and can be cellared for 15 plus years under good storage conditions.
