Saint Clair Pinot Noir 2024 is a polished, fruit forward Marlborough Pinot with plenty of ripe berry flavour and just enough savoury detail to keep it interesting.

Boysenberry, black cherry and raspberry lead the way, with soft spice, savoury notes and a hint of toasted oak underneath. The palate is medium bodied and smooth, with silky tannins and fresh acidity giving the wine a refined, balanced feel. In the 375ml bottle, it is also a very handy option when you want a couple of glasses without opening a full bottle.

This gives you classic Marlborough Pinot Noir character in a half bottle format that is genuinely useful. It is elegant enough to feel special, but approachable enough for a quiet night in, and the 2024 also picked up 91 points from Sam Kim at Wine Orbit.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Ripe summer berries, black cherry, raspberry, savoury notes and subtle toasted oak.

Palate: Medium bodied and fruit forward with boysenberry, raspberry, spice, silky texture and fine tannins.

Finish: Long and refined with lingering dark berries, gentle spice and a lightly toasty edge.

About The Winery

Saint Clair Family Estate is a family owned Marlborough producer founded by Neal and Judy Ibbotson, who were among the region’s early vineyard pioneers before releasing their first Saint Clair wines in 1994.

The 2024 Origin Pinot Noir is sourced from selected low cropping vineyards in the Southern Valleys of the Wairau Plain, an area well suited to producing Pinot Noir with ripe fruit, freshness and fine structure.

It is a very approachable expression of Marlborough Pinot Noir, with plenty of fruit, smooth tannins and just enough oak to add polish without getting in the way.

Cellaring Potential

Saint Clair Pinot Noir 2024 is drinking beautifully now, but the producer suggests it can also develop further with careful cellaring.

Recommended drinking window: Now to 2028.

The 2024 Saint Clair Origin Pinot Noir received 91 points from Sam Kim at Wine Orbit, who highlighted its dark plum, blueberry, floral and spice characters, together with its supple mouthfeel and velvety finish.
