GilGraves Vermentino 2023 is a textural Bendigo white with mandarin, cumquat, florals, saline notes and chalky grip. This is a more interesting take on Vermentino, with plenty of freshness and juiciness, but also enough texture and savoury detail to make every glass interesting.

Expect mandarin and cumquat alongside nutty notes, gentle florals, ginger and a distinctive saline edge. The palate is medium bodied with lovely texture, freshness and a fine chalky grip, giving the wine plenty of character without losing its easy drinking appeal.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Mandarin, cumquat, florals, ginger, subtle nuttiness and fresh citrus.

Palate: Medium bodied and textural with juicy citrus fruit, saline freshness, gentle savoury notes and a distinctive chalky feel.

Finish: Fresh and persistent with lingering mandarin, ginger, salinity and fine textural grip.

About The Winery

GilGraves is a small Central Victorian producer based in Axedale, between Bendigo and Heathcote. Founded by Ken Gilchrist and Kaye Graves, GilGraves has built a following for character filled, small batch wines made with a minimal intervention approach.

The 2023 Vermentino was made in collaboration with Brendan Lane of Musk Lane. Its extended maturation gives the wine more texture and grip than a simple fresh white, creating a style that will particularly appeal to those who enjoy savoury, textural and skin contact influenced wines.

GilGraves Vermentino 2023 is drinking beautifully now, when its citrus fruit, saline freshness and savoury texture are at their most vibrant. Enjoy now or cellar over the next two to three years for a little more nutty and savoury development.
