BlackJack Cabernet Merlot 2024 is a refined Central Victorian red from the historic Bendigo wine region. This classic blend brings together the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the softness and plush fruit of Merlot, creating a wine that is generous, balanced and very easy to enjoy.

The 2024 vintage shows lifted aromatics of rose, violet, black berries, red berries, blue fruits, bay leaf and Australian bushland notes, with a polished medium bodied palate and fine tannin shape. Halliday Wine Companion highlights the floral perfume and lively berry fruit of this vintage.

About The Winery

BlackJack Wines is a respected Bendigo producer based at Harcourt in Central Victoria. The story of the name goes back to the Gold Rush era of the 1850s, when an American sailor known as BlackJack made his way to the Castlemaine goldfields. A road beside the vineyard still carries his name, giving the winery a strong connection to local history.

The vineyard was first planted by Ian McKenzie and Ken Pollock in 1988 on an old apple orchard, with plantings of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The first BlackJack Shiraz was released in 1994 and quickly helped build the reputation of the estate, later winning major recognition at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show.

BlackJack’s focus has always been on high quality red wines that reflect vineyard and vintage. The estate works with handpicked fruit and traditional techniques, aiming to let the grapes and regional character speak clearly. Their core estate range includes Shiraz, Block 6 Shiraz and Cabernet Merlot, with the Cabernet Merlot showing the elegant, structured side of Bendigo red wine.
