Alles Klar Italian Spiderman Lambrusco 2023 is not the sweet, fizzy Lambrusco many people expect.

This is a dry, still red made from Lambrusco grown in South Australia’s Riverland. Cherry, blackberry and violet lead the way, with gentle spice, dried herbs and a soft savoury edge underneath. The palate is juicy and fresh, with silky tannins and enough texture from older oak to give the wine shape without making it heavy.

Why buy it? Because this takes a familiar grape and does something completely different with it. It is bright enough to serve slightly chilled, savoury enough to keep things interesting and dry enough to surprise anyone who still thinks Lambrusco means sweet sparkling red.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Cherry, blackberry, violets, dried herbs and gentle spice.

Palate: Light to medium bodied with juicy dark berries, bright acidity and soft silky tannins.

Finish: Dry and savoury with lingering cherry, blackberry and subtle oak texture.

About The Winery

Alles Klar is the project of winemaker Ollie Johns, working with alternative varieties from South Australia’s Riverland around Barmera.

The wines are made in a relaxed, minimal intervention style, with a strong focus on natural fruit expression and sustainable vineyard sources. Italian Spiderman is made from young Lambrusco that is naturally fermented with gentle daily plunging, then rested in older oak to build texture and soften the tannins.

The result is a dry, still Lambrusco that feels more like a bright chilled red than anything fizzy or sweet.

And with a name like Italian Spiderman, it was probably never going to be particularly conventional.
