Montalto Pennon Hill Pinot Noir 2025 is a beautifully polished Mornington Peninsula Pinot with plenty of fruit, perfume and savoury detail. Montalto has also been recognised among the Halliday Wine Companion Top 100 Wineries 2025 and 2027, supporting its reputation as one of Mornington Peninsula’s standout producers for cool climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. 

Red and black cherry lead the way, followed by raspberry, blood orange, cherry cola and summer pudding, with star anise, chai spice and a gentle earthy edge underneath. The palate is refined but generous, with ripe tannins, bright acidity and nicely integrated oak giving the wine excellent balance and length.

Pennon Hill gives you a genuine regional expression of Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir from one of the area's most respected producers, without stepping up to the price of the single vineyard wines. It is polished enough to take seriously, but still relaxed enough to open without inventing a special occasion.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Red cherry, black cherry, raspberry, sarsaparilla, baking spice and subtle earthy notes.

Palate: Medium bodied and generous with cherry, raspberry, blood orange, chai spice and bright natural acidity.

Finish: Long and savoury with lingering red fruit, fine tannins, gentle spice and beautifully integrated oak.

About The Winery

Montalto was established in 1997 at Red Hill South on the Mornington Peninsula and has built an excellent reputation for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay under chief winemaker Simon Black. The Pennon Hill range is designed to show the character of the broader peninsula by blending fruit from several of Montalto's vineyard sites.

For the 2025 Pinot Noir, the fruit comes from Tuerong 60%, Red Hill 30% and Merricks 10%. Tuerong brings generosity and mid palate weight, while Red Hill adds aromatic lift and Merricks helps tie the blend together.

The end result is a regional Pinot with real polish and detail, but without losing the juicy fruit and easy appeal that makes good Mornington Pinot such a pleasure to drink.

Cellaring Potential

Montalto Pennon Hill Pinot Noir 2025 is drinking beautifully now, but its bright acidity and fine tannin structure should see it develop nicely over the next few years.
