Leconfield Chardonnay 2024 is a polished Coonawarra white with ripe stone fruit, subtle French oak and a bright mineral finish. Chardonnay has a long history at Leconfield, where the vines are planted in a lower part of the vineyard to capture the cool climate character of the site.

The 2024 vintage shows ripe nectarine, citrus, gentle vanilla and complex yeast notes, with a medium bodied palate and persistent stone fruit flavour. French oak adds texture and polish, while the crisp acidity keeps everything fresh and beautifully balanced.

About The Winery

Leconfield is situated in the heart of Coonawarra, one of Australia’s most famous wine regions. While Coonawarra is best known for Cabernet Sauvignon, its cool climate conditions also allow Chardonnay to develop freshness, natural acidity and elegant fruit expression.

The estate was established in 1974 by Sydney Hamilton, one of Australia’s respected winemaking figures. Over time, Leconfield has become known for distinctive wines that reflect the region’s Terra Rossa soils over limestone, careful vineyard work and classic Australian winemaking.

The 2024 Chardonnay was harvested in the cool of the morning, then pressed immediately. Most of the wine comes from free run juice, with a small portion of lightly pressed wine included for added depth. Fermentation and maturation took place in French oak, with lees stirring during eight months in barrel to build texture, flavour and complexity.

Leconfield Chardonnay 2024 is perfect to enjoy now for its fresh stone fruit and citrus character. It will also gain extra complexity over the next 4 to 5 years under good storage conditions.
