Mainly from vines around 50 years old, and all estate fruit on terra rossa soils. A little less new oak this year (20%) but same élevage at 18 months. The cooler year has presented a finer, more fragrant offering, with wild red berries and cherries, dried herbs and subtle earthy complexity. It’s a very charming wine, more to medium weight, that bears the current-day Coriole stamp of light-handed making, framing fruit and vintage. Marcus Ellis

Aroma: Blackberries, plum and cassis layered with black pepper, cedar and a hint of violet.
Palate: Full-bodied yet refined, bursting with ripe dark fruit, cocoa and spice wrapped in velvety tannins.
Finish: Long and persistent, showing dark chocolate and subtle savoury earth tones.

Food Pairing / Serving Suggestions

Pairs beautifully with roast lamb, chargrilled steak or mushroom risotto. Decant for an hour before serving to reveal the wine’s full depth and complexity.

Founded in 1967, Coriole Vineyards is one of McLaren Vale’s most respected family-owned estates. Drinking beautifully now but will reward careful cellaring for 10–15 years, developing complex notes of leather, spice and tobacco with age.
