The Dilettantes Sangiovese 2025 is a bright, juicy and very drinkable Clare Valley red with a fresh Italian inspired feel. It is medium bodied, smooth and lively, showing red cherry, sour cherry, raspberry and redcurrant, with gentle spice and dried herbs adding savoury detail.

This is Sangiovese made for easy enjoyment, with soft tannins, fresh acidity and a clean dry finish. It has enough brightness to serve slightly cool, while still offering plenty of flavour for pasta, pizza, antipasto and relaxed dinners.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Red cherry, sour cherry, raspberry, redcurrant, dried herbs, spice and a light earthy note.

Palate: Medium bodied and juicy with bright red fruit, soft tannins, fresh acidity and savoury herbal detail.

Finish: Smooth and moreish with lingering cherry, raspberry, spice and a clean dry finish.

Serving Suggestions

About The Producer

The Dilettantes is a small Clare Valley wine label focused on expressive, minimal intervention wines with freshness, fruit purity and plenty of personality. The wines are made in a relaxed, hands on style, allowing the vineyard and variety to do most of the talking.

This Sangiovese comes from a single vineyard and is handled gently in the winery. Wild fermentation, old oak, no fining and no filtration help preserve the natural character of the fruit, while only a small addition of sulphur at bottling keeps the wine fresh and stable.

Clare Valley is best known for Riesling, but its warm days, cool nights and varied vineyard sites also suit lighter and more savoury red varieties. Sangiovese works beautifully here, giving bright cherry fruit, fresh acidity, fine tannins and the savoury edge that makes the variety so enjoyable at the table.
