Poggerino Chianti Classico 2024 is a pure Sangiovese from the elevated vineyards of Radda in Chianti. Bright cherry and redcurrant flavours are layered with blackberry, leather, liquorice and gentle vanilla, supported by persistent tannins and fresh acidity.

The 2024 vintage produced a lively and aromatic expression of Chianti Classico. Poggerino retains greater depth and structure than many wines from the vintage, while preserving the freshness and immediate drinking appeal that define the year.

About The Vineyards And Winemaking

Poggerino Chianti Classico is made from 100 percent Sangiovese grown around Radda in Chianti. The vines were planted between 1994 and 2004 at a density of approximately 5,000 vines per hectare and are harvested entirely by hand from late September into early October.

Fermentation begins without selected yeast and takes place in concrete tanks. The wine remains on skins for approximately thirty five days with manual plunging and pumping over. It is then transferred into Slavonian oak barrels and French oak tonneaux, where malolactic fermentation and twelve months of maturation take place. Further bottle ageing follows before release.

About Poggerino And Radda In Chianti

The historic Poggerino property was once part of the estate of Prince Ginori Conti, a member of one of Florence’s oldest families. The property is now managed by Piero and Benedetta Lanza, who took responsibility for the estate during the 1980s.

Poggerino is a small organic estate in the heart of Chianti Classico, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and woodland. Its elevated vineyards and stony galestro soils provide excellent drainage, helping Sangiovese retain acidity, perfume and fine tannin structure.

Cellaring Potential

Enjoy now with time in the glass, or cellar for five to eight years. Further ageing should bring deeper notes of leather, tobacco, dried herbs and savoury spice.
