Poggiotondo Chianti Superiore 2023 is a vibrant and expressive Sangiovese from the heart of Tuscany. Made by renowned winemaker Alberto Antonini, this organically farmed Chianti delivers everything you want in the style, bright cherry fruit, earthy complexity, fine tannins, and refreshing acidity. Elegant, authentic, and food-friendly, it’s a brilliant expression of modern Tuscan craftsmanship.

About the Winery

Poggiotondo, located in the Chianti region near Cerreto Guidi, is owned and operated by famed Tuscan winemaker Alberto Antonini, one of the world’s most respected consulting winemakers. The vineyards are certified organic and farmed with a focus on biodiversity and minimal intervention. The result is wines that express pure Tuscan character, honest, vibrant, and deeply rooted in place.

Winemaking 

Grape Varieties: 92% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo, 3% Colorino.

Climate: Mild and dry, influenced by the proximity to the Mediterranean Sea, resulting in a balanced wine.

Vinification: Grapes are destemmed and crushed, fermented in temperature-controlled cement tanks with indigenous yeasts, and undergo spontaneous malolactic fermentation. The wine ages in large untoasted 54hl barrels for 12 months, followed by several months in the bottle. 

Cellaring Potential

Drink now for bright fruit and freshness, or cellar confidently until 2030 for deeper savoury complexity.
