About the Winery / Region

Mount Mary Vineyard was established in 1971 by John and Marli Middleton and is regarded as one of Australia’s most important family owned estates. Located in Lilydale at the eastern edge of the Yarra Valley, Mount Mary has long championed low yields, meticulous viticulture and a classical, Bordeaux-inspired approach to winemaking.

The Quintet is the estate’s flagship red blend, typically led by Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec playing supporting roles. Each component is vinified separately and blended only after careful evaluation, resulting in a wine that prioritises balance, structure and site expression over power.

Cellaring Potential

Exceptional longevity. Drinking well with air now, but best cellared until 2040+, where it will continue to gain savoury depth, tertiary complexity and silkier tannin integration.
