West Cape Howe Frankland River Shiraz 2024 is a rich, generous Shiraz with loads of dark fruit, spice and that lovely savoury edge Frankland River does so well. There is plenty of flavour here, but it still feels balanced and fresh rather than heavy, making it an easy red to enjoy now.

Dark plum and blackberry lead the way, with blueberry, liquorice, star anise and peppery spice adding plenty of interest. The palate is smooth and nicely weighted, with fine tannins giving the wine shape and a long, savoury finish.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Dark plum, blackberry, blueberry, liquorice, star anise and lifted spice.

Palate: Rich and juicy with ripe dark berries, plum, peppery spice and savoury complexity, balanced by fine tannins.

Finish: Smooth and persistent with lingering dark fruit, spice, liquorice and gentle savoury notes.

About The Winery

West Cape Howe Wines is based in Mount Barker in Western Australia's Great Southern region and has been producing wine since 1997. The winery works with estate vineyards in both Mount Barker and Frankland River, allowing it to showcase the different personalities of these two important Great Southern regions.

Frankland River is particularly well suited to Shiraz, producing wines with ripe dark fruit, spice, freshness and fine tannin structure. West Cape Howe's Frankland River Shiraz captures that style beautifully, offering plenty of richness while still keeping the wine balanced and very drinkable.

Cellaring Potential

West Cape Howe Frankland River Shiraz 2024 is drinking very well now, especially if you enjoy Shiraz with plenty of dark fruit and spice. It should also continue to develop nicely over the next five to seven years under good storage conditions.
