Umani Ronchi Podere Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2025 is one of those wonderfully dependable Italian reds that delivers plenty of flavour without making a fuss about it.

Black cherry, ripe plum and red berries lead the way, with gentle spice and a slightly earthy, savoury edge adding a little more interest. The palate is juicy and generous, with fresh acidity, nicely balanced tannins and a dry finish that keeps you coming back for another glass.

About The Winery

Umani Ronchi is one of central Italy's most respected family owned wineries, with a history dating back to the 1950s. Based in the Marche, the winery also has vineyards in neighbouring Abruzzo, where the Montepulciano grape has long been one of the region's most important varieties.

The family has built its reputation on producing wines that capture the character of their regions while remaining approachable, balanced and enjoyable to drink. There is a strong focus on traditional Italian varieties, with Montepulciano and Verdicchio playing particularly important roles.

Podere was first produced in 1993 and comes from vineyards primarily in the Chieti and Teramo provinces of Abruzzo. Made from 100% Montepulciano, it is designed to highlight the grape's natural generosity, with ripe cherry and plum fruit, fresh acidity and just enough tannin to provide structure.

It is a polished, honest expression of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, and a good reminder that some of Italy's most enjoyable reds are also among its most affordable.

Cellaring Potential

Umani Ronchi Podere Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2025 is made to be enjoyed while its fruit is bright and youthful. It has enough structure for short to medium term cellaring, but there is little reason to leave it sitting around for too long.
