Textural Yarra Valley Arneis with pear, green melon, white florals and chalky mineral freshness.

Thick As Thieves Arneis 2025 is a bright, expressive Yarra Valley white. It is a dry, saline and textural take on Arneis, combining fragrant aromatics with a light to medium bodied palate and a gently chalky finish.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Nashi pear, guava, green melon, spearmint, white flowers and a hint of almond meal.

Palate: Light to medium-bodied, with a mineral, saline feel and flavours of pear, kiwi and green melon.

Finish: Fresh and long, with gentle chalky phenolics adding grip and shape.

Winemaking

This wine saw 36 hours of pre-ferment skin contact followed by a 100% seasoned barrel indigenous ferment, a combination that helps build texture, savoury detail and a little phenolic grip while keeping the fruit profile bright and lifted.

About the Winery / History

Thick As Thieves was started by Syd Bradford in the Yarra Valley in 2009 as a virtual winery built on bought fruit and rented facilities. The business took a major step forward in 2012 with the purchase of the Cypress Ridge vineyard, and the experimental beginnings of The Aloof Alpaca Arneis have remained an important part of the range.

Cellaring Potential

This is best enjoyed for its youthful fragrance and freshness, though its texture and phenolic shape suggest it can also reward short term cellaring under good conditions.
