About Tellurian And Heathcote

Tellurian was established on the slopes of the Mount Camel Range after founder Ian Hopkins purchased the property in 2002. The name Tellurian means of the earth, reflecting the winery’s connection to Heathcote’s distinctive landscape and ancient red soils.

Chief winemaker Tobias Ansted joined the project during its early years, bringing experience from Australia, France, Romania and Argentina. The estate focuses on producing expressive wines that clearly reflect their vineyard and regional origins, with Shiraz remaining at the heart of the Tellurian range.

Heathcote is one of Victoria’s most celebrated Shiraz regions. Warm days encourage ripe blackberry and plum flavours, while cooler evenings help preserve freshness, fragrance and balanced tannins.
