About The Wine

Roger Sabon Châteauneuf du Pape Réserve 2022 is a beautifully composed Southern Rhône red that sits in the classic zone between generosity and structure. It shows ripe dark fruit, savoury garrigue notes and a layered, full-bodied palate, with enough polish to make it highly enjoyable now while still clearly built for further development. This is a serious, old-vine Châteauneuf with both power and finesse.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Dark cherry, red berries, warm herbs, baking spice and a subtle stony earthiness.

Palate: Full-bodied and precise, with a juicy core of dark cherry and blue fruit, framed by fine, firm tannins and savoury spice.

Finish: Focused and persistent, with lingering dark fruit, dried herbs and a finely structured close.

Serving Suggestions

A superb match for roast lamb, duck, slow-cooked beef, game dishes or aged hard cheeses.

About the Winery / Producer / Region

Roger Sabon is one of the historic family names of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with roots in the region dating back to 1540. The domaine itself was founded in 1952 and remains family run, with vineyards spread across key parcels of the appellation. The Réserve bottling is drawn from old vines and sits as a beautifully judged expression of traditional Châteauneuf du Pape character.

Cellaring Potential

This wine has the structure and concentration to reward medium to long term cellaring. A drinking window from 2026 onward suits the vintage well, with the balance to develop added savoury complexity over time.
