About the Winery / Producer / Region

Pommery is one of the great historic Champagne houses of Reims, founded in 1836. Its reputation was transformed under Madame Louise Pommery, one of Champagne’s most influential figures, who took control of the house in the 19th century and helped redefine the style of Champagne for a new era. At a time when many Champagnes were much sweeter, Madame Pommery championed a drier, more elegant Brut style, helping shape the modern Champagne profile that is now recognised around the world.

The house is also famous for its extraordinary chalk cellars in Reims. These underground crayères, carved into the region’s chalk, provide naturally cool, stable conditions for ageing Champagne and remain one of the most important parts of Pommery’s identity. The estate itself is visually striking, with its grand Elizabethan-style architecture and deep historical connection to the city of Reims.
