Plymouth Gin is a proper classic. It is smooth, rounded and a little softer than many London Dry styles, with juniper still at the centre but plenty of citrus and spice around it. Orange and lemon bring freshness, coriander and cardamom add lift, while angelica and orris give the gin a more earthy, polished finish.

At 41.2% ABV, it has enough weight for a Martini or Negroni but is just as comfortable in a simple gin and tonic. The balance is the real strength here. Nothing shouts too loudly, which is probably why Plymouth has been around since 1793.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Fresh citrus, juniper, coriander and cardamom.

Palate: Smooth and full bodied with juniper, sweet orange, lemon and gentle earthy spice.

Finish: Long and aromatic with citrus, pine, spice and a dry herbal edge.

About The Distillery

Plymouth Gin has been made in the city of Plymouth on England’s south west coast since 1793, using the same distinctive seven botanical recipe. Those botanicals are juniper, orange peel, lemon peel, coriander, cardamom, angelica and orris root.

The style is known for being particularly smooth and rounded, with less aggressive juniper than some gins and a lovely balance between citrus, spice and earthy botanicals. It is one of those bottles that works across just about every classic gin drink and has earned its reputation the old fashioned way, by being consistently good for a very long time.
