Aroma: Grapefruit, lemon curd, baking spice, almond croissant, struck flint and oyster-shell minerality.

Palate: Fine, layered and intense, with pink grapefruit, lemon curd, crème brûlée richness, roasted hazelnut and salted cashew wrapped around a precise cool climate acid line. 

Finish: Exceptionally long and focused, with persistent citrus, savoury nut complexity and beautifully composed acidity.

Serving Suggestions

A superb match for lobster, roast chicken, seared scallops, creamy mushroom dishes or richly textured seafood. Its depth and finesse also suit more refined white-meat dishes.

Penfolds is one of Australia’s most historic wine producers, established in 1844. Yattarna was first released with the 1995 vintage after 144 trial wines, with the Bin 144 designation reflecting that long development process. It was created to set a benchmark for ultra fine Australian Chardonnay and remains one of the house’s most important white wines. 

Cellaring Potential

This is built for long-term ageing and should reward careful cellaring for many years. Penfolds gives the 2021 release a peak drinking window of 2025–2045, and Halliday has also highlighted the 2019 as one of Australia’s best wines to cellar. That makes the 2019 a strong candidate for medium to long-term development in bottle.
