Mt Moriac Chardonnay 2024 is a very tidy example of cool climate Geelong Chardonnay, balancing bright citrus and white stone fruit with just enough creamy texture and oak to give it a bit more depth.

White peach, grapefruit and lemon pith lead the way, with soft florals, creamy lees notes and restrained oak spice underneath. The palate is medium bodied and nicely textured, with fresh acidity keeping everything lively and the finish long, smooth and gently savoury.

Mt Moriac gives you proper Geelong Chardonnay character at a very sensible price. It has enough richness to feel satisfying, but still keeps the citrus, freshness and mineral edge that make cool climate Chardonnay so appealing.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: White peach, grapefruit, lemon pith, soft florals and subtle oak spice.

Palate: Medium bodied with ripe stone fruit, bright citrus, creamy texture and fine acidity.

Finish: Long and smooth with lingering grapefruit, white peach, gentle spice and a fresh savoury edge.

About The Winery

Mt Moriac Wines is based west of Geelong in the foothills of Mount Moriac, with vineyard development in the area dating back to 1987. Chardonnay is one of the key varieties grown alongside Pinot Noir and Shiraz, with the cool Geelong climate helping the wines retain freshness and natural acidity.

Winemaker Kelly Pearson has extensive experience across Australia and overseas and has been working with Mt Moriac Wines since 2015. Her background includes vintages in South Australia, Western Australia, New South Wales, California, India and China, bringing plenty of experience to a range that remains firmly focused on Geelong.

The 2024 Chardonnay shows the more polished side of the region, with plenty of fruit and texture but without disappearing under layers of oak. Exactly where good Chardonnay should be.
