About The Brewery And Region

Mountain Monk Brewers is an independent, family owned brewery based in Mount Beauty in Victoria’s High Country. The brewery sits beneath Mount Bogong, surrounded by alpine peaks, rivers and forests that give the business a strong connection to its mountain home.

The story began in 2017 when two brothers and their cousin, together with their partners, took over the former Mount Beauty Workman’s Club and transformed it into a welcoming local venue. A brewery was added in 2022, with the first Mountain Monk Pale Ale poured over the bar at Christmas that year.

Mountain Monk Brewers draws inspiration from the European tradition of monks brewing beer and offering hospitality to travellers and local communities. This old world philosophy is combined with a modern Australian craft brewing approach, pristine High Country water and carefully selected regional ingredients.

The Dark Ale reflects that philosophy beautifully, delivering comforting roasted flavour in a balanced core range beer made for repeated enjoyment.
