Mount Avoca Moates Lane Shiraz 2024 is a generous Victorian Shiraz with plenty of ripe dark fruit, spice and a lovely smooth feel through the palate. Plum, cherry and blackberry are the main event, with black pepper, herbs and a little cocoa adding enough savoury character to keep things interesting.

It is rich without being over the top, with soft tannins and a rounded finish that make it very easy to enjoy. If you like classic Australian Shiraz with plenty of fruit, but still want freshness and balance, this is a great everyday option.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Dark plum, cherry, blackberry, forest berries, herbs and gentle spice.

Palate: Full flavoured with ripe plum, cherry and fig, followed by cocoa, black pepper and subtle vanilla oak.

Finish: Smooth and lingering with dark fruit, peppery spice and soft powdery tannins.

About The Winery

Mount Avoca is one of the long established producers of Victoria’s Pyrenees region. The vineyard was first planted by John and Ada Barry in 1970, with Shiraz and Cabernet among the original varieties, and the estate has since built a strong reputation for expressive cool climate Victorian wines.

The Pyrenees is particularly well suited to Shiraz, producing wines with ripe dark fruit, spice and good natural structure. Moates Lane is the approachable side of the Mount Avoca range, made to deliver plenty of regional character without needing years in the cellar first.

It is exactly the sort of Shiraz that works when you want something dependable, full flavoured and easy to enjoy without spending a fortune.
