M. Chapoutier Belleruche Côtes du Rhône White 2024 is one of those whites that reminds you the Rhône can do considerably more than produce large quantities of Grenache and make people argue about Châteauneuf du Pape.

Apricot and citrus come through first, followed by fennel, white flowers and a little aniseed. There is some richness through the middle, but the acidity keeps everything fresh, so it never wanders into heavy territory. Wine Enthusiast awarded the 2024 91 points, noting its citrus, florals, almond and wet stone character.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Apricot, fennel, white flowers, citrus and gentle herbal notes.

Palate: Medium bodied and rounded with ripe orchard fruit, citrus, subtle spice and fresh acidity.

Finish: Clean and persistent with aniseed, almond and a fine mineral edge.

About The Winery

M. Chapoutier is one of the great names of the Rhône Valley, with a history stretching back to 1808. The house works across both the Northern and Southern Rhône and has built its reputation on wines that show plenty of regional character without needing too much unnecessary decoration around them.

Belleruche is the more approachable side of Chapoutier, and that is not a criticism. It is made to be enjoyed rather than stared at while somebody explains the soil profile for twenty minutes.

The 2024 white is a blend built around classic Rhône varieties including Roussanne, Viognier, Grenache Blanc and Clairette, giving the wine both perfume and texture. Jeb Dunnuck rated it 89 points, highlighting orchard fruit, spice, crushed stone and herbal notes.

Cellaring Potential

M. Chapoutier Belleruche Côtes du Rhône White 2024 is drinking very well now and is really at its best while the fruit and freshness are still bright. Enjoy now or over the next two to three years.
