M. Chapoutier Belleruche Côtes du Rhône Red 2024 is one of those bottles that makes a very strong case for always keeping a few Rhône reds around.

Blackcurrant and raspberry lead the way, with black cherry, white pepper, dried herbs and a little roasted character underneath. The palate is juicy and medium bodied, with enough fruit to feel generous but none of the heaviness that can make some warm climate reds feel like hard work.

The blend is 55% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 5% Marselan, which gives you Grenache’s softness, Syrah’s spice and just enough extra structure from Marselan to keep everything neatly together. Jeb Dunnuck gave the 2024 89 points, highlighting its red and black fruit, garrigue, spice and subtle leather.

Palate: Medium bodied and juicy with ripe red and dark fruit, gentle spice, roasted notes and silky tannins.

About The Winery

M. Chapoutier is one of the best known names in the Rhône Valley, with the Chapoutier family making wine in the region since 1808. The house works across some of the Rhône’s most famous appellations, but Belleruche is deliberately made as a more approachable expression of the region.

That is part of what makes it so useful. You still get proper Rhône character, ripe fruit, pepper, herbs and silky tannins, without needing to save the bottle for a dinner party where somebody inevitably starts explaining terroir before the entrée arrives.

The 2024 Belleruche is sourced from vineyards across the wider Côtes du Rhône and is built around Grenache and Syrah, giving it the easy generosity and savoury spice the region does so well.

M. Chapoutier Belleruche Côtes du Rhône Red 2024 is drinking very well now and is really made for its fresh fruit and silky texture. Drink now or over the next four to five years under good storage conditions.
