Löwenbräu Original Bottle 500ml is a proper Munich lager, clean, crisp and very easy to drink. There is a little malt sweetness up front, followed by gentle spice and a mild hop bitterness that keeps everything nicely balanced.

At 5.2% ABV, it has enough flavour to be interesting without getting in the way of the main job, which is being cold and refreshing.

Why buy it? Because this is classic German lager from one of Munich’s historic breweries. If you like clean, malt driven beer with proper bitterness and none of the tropical fruit circus that turns up in half the fridge these days, this is a very safe bet.

About The Brewery

Löwenbräu is one of Munich’s classic brewing names and has a long connection with traditional Bavarian lager. The brewery uses malt, hops, yeast and water in line with the German Purity Law, with much of its hop supply coming from Hallertau in Bavaria.

Löwenbräu Original is the brewery’s classic everyday lager, brewed in a bottom fermented style and known for its pale golden colour, clean malt character and mild hop bitterness. It also won gold in the Munich Style Helles category at the 2016 World Beer Cup.
