Leconfield Old Vines Riesling 2025 is a bright, elegant and finely detailed Coonawarra Riesling from one of the estate’s original vineyard plantings. The vines are around 50 years old, producing fruit with concentration, clarity and beautiful varietal character.

The 2025 vintage shows lemon, lime, lemon myrtle, pomelo, Granny Smith apple and kiwi, with a clean dry palate, lively acidity and a refreshing mineral finish. It is crisp and vibrant now, with enough structure to develop extra complexity over time.

About The Winery

Leconfield is one of Coonawarra’s respected family wine estates, founded in 1974 by Sydney Hamilton. The Hamilton family has been connected to South Australian wine growing since 1837, giving Leconfield a strong link to both regional history and classic Australian winemaking.

Coonawarra is best known for Cabernet Sauvignon, but its cool nights, limestone influence and careful vineyard sites can also produce beautifully fresh white wines. Riesling thrives when natural acidity is preserved, and this old vine parcel gives the wine extra concentration, texture and length.

The Old Vines Riesling comes from a small Riesling vineyard planted in 1974, one of the original plantings on the estate. The fruit is harvested in the cool of the early morning and pressed quickly to preserve freshness and aromatic purity. The wine is made in a dry style, focused on citrus brightness, mineral detail and clean Coonawarra freshness.

Cellaring Potential

Leconfield Old Vines Riesling 2025 is delicious now for its bright citrus and crisp acidity, but it also has the structure to age well. Drink now to 2035 under good storage conditions. Over time, expect the citrus notes to develop into lemon oil, toast, honey and gentle spice.
