La Sirène Beer W Mac Chardonnay is a barrel aged wild ale with white flowers, buttery notes and a dry vinous finish. It brings together the worlds of wine and beer in a way that feels fresh, funky and genuinely interesting.

This release was fermented on Chardonnay lees from Mac Forbes Wines in the Yarra Valley, giving it a clear wine influence along with La Sirène’s signature wild ale character. Expect bright florals, gentle funk, Chardonnay like texture and a dry finish that makes it a great bottle to share.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: White flowers, Chardonnay lees, gentle funk, citrus, soft butter and subtle barrel character.

Palate: Medium bodied and vinous with wild fermentation complexity, soft acidity, light creaminess and savoury depth.

Finish: Dry and expressive with lingering florals, citrus, funk and white wine freshness.

About The Brewery

La Sirène Brewing is a Melbourne brewery known for wild ales, farmhouse styles and creative beer styles inspired by wine. The brewery opened in 2010 and has built a strong reputation for natural fermentation, barrel ageing and expressive beers that show place, time and season.

The brewery originally began in Alphington and later moved to Reservoir, continuing its focus on wild and farmhouse ales from Melbourne’s north. La Sirène has always had a close connection to wine, and this Beer W Mac Chardonnay release is a perfect example of that approach.

For this beer, La Sirène brewed a neutral farmhouse ale and filled it into old Burgundian white wine barrels that had held fresh Chardonnay lees from Mac Forbes Wines. Native yeasts from the Chardonnay ferment then helped guide the spontaneous fermentation, creating a beer that is funky, vinous, textural and full of personality.
