Jane Eyre Bourgogne Rouge 2023 is a great, easy way into Jane Eyre’s Burgundy wines. It is bright, fragrant and beautifully light on its feet, with plenty of fresh red fruit and none of the heaviness you sometimes get in warmer climate Pinot Noir.

Cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry lead the way, with a little dried rose, spice and earthy savoury character underneath. The palate is fresh and silky, with fine tannins and crisp acidity keeping everything lively. It is polished without feeling too serious, and very easy to enjoy now.

Aroma: Red cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry, dried rose and gentle earthy spice.

Palate: Light to medium bodied with juicy red fruit, bright acidity, soft texture and fine powdery tannins.

Finish: Fresh and silky with lingering cherry, spice and a subtle savoury edge.

About The Winery

Jane Eyre is an Australian winemaker who has built an impressive reputation in Burgundy, producing Pinot Noir from a range of villages and appellations while also making wine in Australia. Her wines are known for their perfume, delicacy and freshness, with a style that lets the fruit and vineyard character do the talking.

The 2023 Bourgogne Rouge comes from two parcels in Mercurey, including a parcel of older vines. It is a really appealing introduction to her Burgundy range, offering genuine regional character without needing years in the cellar before it starts to show well.

Cellaring Potential

Jane Eyre Bourgogne Rouge 2023 is drinking beautifully now, particularly if you enjoy fresh and fragrant Pinot Noir. It should continue to develop nicely through to around 2031 and beyond under good storage conditions.
