Eisenstone Hoffmann Vineyard Ebenezer Shiraz SV902 2021 is a powerful, deeply expressive single vineyard Barossa Shiraz from one of the region’s most respected growers and one of its most exciting small producers. Sourced from the Hoffmann Vineyard in Ebenezer, this is a premium Shiraz with concentration, structure and a strong sense of place.

The 2021 vintage is a standout for Barossa Shiraz, giving this wine impressive depth, balance and ageing potential. Expect layers of blackberry, dark plum, black cherry, cocoa, baking spice and ironstone mineral detail, all supported by firm but polished tannins and a long savoury finish.

Deepest of purple at the core, barely fading into the rim. Aromas of mulberry, dark chocolate, dried woody herbs, and boudin noir fill the nose. The palate carries the same intensity, with dark and rich fruit entwined with chocolate, ironstone, and dried herb complexities. Tannins are very subtle yet powerful, ensuring the wine remains focused. Line and length are prodigious - it lingers for an age on the palate yet still offers a freshness at the end that delights. The 2021 is a superb vintage, and this is the first release, just 400 bottles made. Black cherry/darkest purple in colour, this is a wine of concentration and focus, intensity, and very fine balance. The nose is full of chocolate, mocha, roast meats, dried herbs, cassis, and coffee beans. A wine of power and silk, muscle and elegance, and great length. Well-structured with silky tannins and an exciting future, with the oak handled gracefully. This will be stunning for at least 20 years. Ken Gargett

Deep crimson, with a fragrant bouquet of mulberry, freshly picked blackberries, plum, and cedar. Plush and mouth filling, offering excellent intensity with a core of raspberry and queen garnet plum. About The Producer

Eisenstone is a boutique Barossa Valley producer founded by winemaker Stephen Cook in 2014. The name celebrates the ironstone soils of the Barossa and the stone used by early German settlers to build many of the region’s historic buildings.

Stephen Cook built Eisenstone with a very focused idea, to make Shiraz that speaks clearly of individual Barossa sites. Halliday Wine Companion notes that Eisenstone specialises in single vineyard and single district Shiraz, with Stephen Cook focused on high quality grapes, quality oak and capturing the relationship between Shiraz and place.

The Hoffmann Vineyard in Ebenezer is one of the Barossa’s most admired vineyard sources. Ebenezer sits in the northern Barossa and is known for producing intense, structured Shiraz with dark fruit power, deep colour, savoury earthiness and long ageing potential.
