Hacker Pschorr Münchner Hell is a proper Bavarian Helles, pale gold, smooth and ridiculously easy to drink. Soft malt leads the way, with a little grain, gentle yeast and fine hop bitterness keeping everything clean and balanced.

At 5% ABV, it has enough flavour to be interesting without trying to turn every mouthful into an event. This is the sort of beer that works because nothing is shouting for attention.

Münchner Hell is about as traditional as Munich lager gets. It is brewed with water, barley malt and hops, including Hallertauer Tradition hops, giving the beer its soft malt character and finely bitter finish.

There is not much trickery here, which is part of the appeal. Just very good lager made in a style Munich has had plenty of time to get right.
