Fraser Gallop Parterre Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is a beautifully composed Margaret River Cabernet that leans towards elegance and detail rather than sheer weight.

Cassis, blackberry and redcurrant lead the way, with violet, dried herbs, cedar and gentle graphite adding the classic savoury notes that make Margaret River Cabernet so distinctive. The palate is medium to full bodied, with concentrated fruit, fresh acidity and fine structured tannins carrying everything through to a long finish.

This is a great bottle for anyone who enjoys Cabernet with restraint and finesse. There is plenty of flavour and structure, but nothing feels overdone. It is polished enough to open now and serious enough to reward some time in the cellar.

Fraser Gallop Estate is based in Wilyabrup, right in the heart of Margaret River Cabernet country. The estate has built a particularly strong reputation for Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux inspired blends, with the Parterre range sitting among its premium releases.

The style is influenced by classic Bordeaux, but the fruit is unmistakably Margaret River, combining ripe cassis and dark berries with freshness, savoury herbs and fine tannin.

It is serious Cabernet without becoming stern about it, which is a useful quality in both wine and people.

The 2022 is already showing excellent balance, but this is a Cabernet with genuine cellaring potential.

Enjoy now with some air, or cellar confidently for around 10 to 15 years as the dark fruit gradually develops more cedar, tobacco and savoury complexity.
