Beechworth Pinot Noir with cherry, raspberry, florals and fine “cashmere” tannins.

Fighting Gully Road’s 2024 Pinot Noir is a detailed, cool-climate Beechworth red showing bright cherry red hues and layered aromatics of boysenberry, cherry and raspberry, lifted by musky florals and sweet spice. The palate is concentrated yet poised, building savoury nuance (forest floor and gentle earth) around vibrant red fruits and fine, even tannins with excellent length.

About Fighting Gully Road

Based in Beechworth, Fighting Gully Road is led by vigneron Mark Walpole, recognised for his long standing work across Victorian viticulture and his meticulous, site focused approach to winemaking. The estate’s wines aim to reflect Beechworth’s elevated, cool conditions and are made in small batches with a strong emphasis on detail in both vineyard and cellar.

Winemaking Notes

A portion is made with whole bunch (including a carbonic component) to build perfume and complexity, then matured for around 10 months in French oak puncheons (including new oak) to add structure and subtle spice while keeping fruit clarity.

Cellaring Notes

Excellent now for fragrance and purity; cellar 5 to 7 years for added savoury complexity and tertiary detail.
