Dune The Empty Quarter GSM 2024 is a vibrant McLaren Vale red made from Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro. It has plenty of juicy fruit and easy charm, but there is also a savoury side that keeps it fresh, balanced and interesting.

The 2024 vintage brings glossy purple fruits, mulberry, dark cherry, plum, blueberry, sage flower, aniseed, white pepper and a touch of dark cocoa. It is medium bodied, smooth and generous, with fine tannins and a long, savoury finish.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Mulberry, dark cherry, plum, blueberry, sage flower, aniseed and white pepper.

Palate: Medium bodied and juicy with red and blue fruit, plum, cocoa, savoury spice and supple tannins.

Finish: Long and smooth with lingering dark fruit, spice, herbs and gentle McLaren Vale warmth.

Serving Suggestions

About The Producer

Dune Wine is the project of brothers Duncan and Peter Lloyd, with a focus on bright, expressive wines from McLaren Vale. The wines are made with freshness and balance in mind, showing the generous fruit the region is known for without feeling too heavy.

McLaren Vale is one of Australia’s great regions for Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro. Warm days help build flavour and ripeness, while coastal influence and sandy vineyard sites can bring perfume, freshness and fine tannin shape.

The Empty Quarter is Dune’s take on a classic southern Rhône inspired blend. Grenache brings red fruit and perfume, Shiraz adds depth and darker fruit, while Mataro contributes savoury spice, structure and a little earthy grip. The result is a delicious, modern McLaren Vale red with plenty of personality.

Cellaring Potential

Dune The Empty Quarter GSM 2024 is drinking beautifully now for its juicy fruit and smooth tannins. It can also be cellared over the short to medium term. Drink now to 2030 under good storage conditions.
