The 2023 Dominique Portet Single Vineyard Pinot Noir from the Yarra Valley's Gladysdale subregion is a refined expression of cool climate winemaking. Sourced from mature MV6 clone vines over 25 years old, this vintage benefited from a challenging growing season that resulted in 30% lower yields, producing small, intensely flavored berries.

A very bright crimson. A bit darker-fruited than the '22 but with equally good purity and complexity. Subtle florals and spice too. Even better on the plush yet beautifully balanced and structured palate. The tannins are chalky and fine. It's a good combination and bodes well for the future. It might be a relatively new variety for the Portets, but they are kicking goals with every new pinot noir release.- Philip Rich

Nose: Fragrant aromas of cherries, raspberries, and plums.

Palate: Medium-bodied with bright red fruit flavors, crisp acidity, and silky tannins, culminating in a poised and elegant finish .

Hand-harvested grapes were chilled overnight to preserve freshness.

10% whole bunch fermentation added aromatic complexity.

Fermented on skins for two weeks, then matured for ten months in fine-grained French oak barrels (20% new)
