The 2020 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru from Domaine Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin is a striking expression of one of Chablis’ most revered terroirs. Sourced from 35-year-old vines nestled in the natural amphitheater of Vaudésir, this wine captures both the elegance and precision that define great Grand Cru Chablis.

On the nose, it reveals piercing aromas of citrus peel, crushed oyster shell, and flint. Subtle hints of white flowers and wet stone add to the complexity, underpinned by a lifted saline edge.

The palate is tensile and focused, driven by bright acidity and a core of lemon zest, green apple, and chalky minerality. There’s an almost crystalline purity to the wine, enhanced by its partial élevage in older oak barrels (35%), which adds gentle texture without obscuring its terroir-driven character.

The finish is long, saline, and mouthwatering—classic Vaudésir—with the structure and energy to age beautifully over the next two to three decades. A benchmark Grand Cru that exemplifies the precision and refinement of the Droin family’s winemaking legacy.
