Reviews

Here there is slightly better Chablis typicity to the ripe, fresh and ever-so-vaguely exotic aromas of white peach, mandarin orange, citrus confit and quinine. The succulent and generous yet decidedly punchy medium-bodied flavors conclude in a crisp, refreshing, very dry and highly refreshing finish that offers notably better depth and persistence. This is an excellent Chablis villages.

Notes of lemon oil, lime zest, white flowers and freshly baked bread introduce the 2022 Chablis Village, a medium to full-bodied, bright and ample wine that remains pure and racy in this warm vintage, concluding with a saline finish.

The 2022 Chablis Villages is a step up from the Petit Chablis as you would expect with hints of yellow fruit, Vervane and light apple strudel scents. Lovely delineation. The palate is taut and crisp with fine tension, lightly spiced with a brisk, saline finish that lingers in the mouth. This is a lovely Chablis Village that will age over the next decade

Serve chilled, ideally around 10 to 12 degrees. A superb match for oysters, scallops, lobster, white fish, roast chicken, creamy seafood dishes, Comté, goat cheese and refined vegetable dishes.

About The Producer

Domaine François Raveneau is one of the legendary estates of Chablis and one of the most admired producers in all of Burgundy. The domaine was established in 1948, when François Raveneau and his wife Andrée Dauvissat brought together vineyard holdings from two respected Chablis families. From the beginning, François focused on domaine bottled wines and on building a reputation for wines of clarity, individuality and exceptional ageing ability.

The estate is based in Chablis, northern Burgundy, where Chardonnay takes on a distinctive profile shaped by cool climate vineyards, limestone rich soils and the region’s famous Kimmeridgian marl. Raveneau has long been celebrated for producing Chablis with tension, texture and quiet power, wines that are never showy, yet reveal extraordinary complexity with time in bottle.

Production is extremely limited, with the domaine’s own website noting small, carefully tended plots and annual production of around 3,000 cases. This scarcity, combined with the estate’s reputation, has made Raveneau one of the most collectible names in white Burgundy.
