Chimay Cinq Cents Triple Bottle is the large format version of Chimay Tripel, and it is a brilliant example of why Belgian Trappist beer has such a loyal following. It is strong, golden and full of flavour, with ripe fruit, florals and gentle spice balanced by a fresh, elegant hop bitterness. At 8% ABV, there is plenty of richness, but the beer still feels lively rather than heavy.

The yeast brings plenty of character, with fruity and floral notes sitting alongside subtle spice and soft malt. The hops keep the finish clean and balanced, giving the beer enough bitterness to stop the sweetness from taking over. This is a classic Belgian Tripel with real depth, but it remains incredibly drinkable for the strength.

About The Brewery

Chimay is one of Belgium’s great Trappist breweries, with the beers produced at Scourmont Abbey. The brewery follows the traditions of authentic Trappist production, with brewing connected directly to the monastic community and its work.

Chimay Tripel was created in 1966 by Father Théodore. The 750ml bottle was introduced in 1986 to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Principality of Chimay, which is where the name Cinq Cents, meaning five hundred, comes from.

The larger bottle also makes Cinq Cents a great option when you want a Belgian beer to share. It has all the fruit, spice and complexity you expect from Chimay, with enough freshness and bitterness to keep everything beautifully balanced.
