Sliced pineapple, papaya and bursting aloe vera. There is a tropical nature to this wine that lifts from the bottom of the glass to the ceiling. Some oyster shell and white stone, with a gentle creaminess of white cornmeal thanks to some neutral oak. Acidity is bright and held in by some savoury white pepper on the finish. Founded in 2005, Catalina Sounds is named after the majestic Catalina flying boats once stationed on Marlborough’s Wairau River during WWII , a symbol of exploration and craftsmanship. Winemaker Matt Ward focuses on purity, precision, and balance, crafting wines that speak clearly of place. The estate vineyards, farmed sustainably, benefit from cool nights and long sunshine hours, producing Sauvignon Blanc with vibrant intensity and textural elegance.
