Barbeito Madeira Rainwater Medium Dry 5 Year Old is a beautifully balanced fortified wine from the island of Madeira, Portugal. Made from Tinta Negra and Verdelho, it offers a lighter and fresher style of Madeira, with gentle sweetness, bright acidity and lovely savoury complexity.

The wine is aged for five years in French oak casks using the traditional Canteiro method, where time and gentle warmth build depth, softness and character. Expect dried fruit, orange blossom, crystallised fruit, caramel, nuts and a long, clean mineral finish.

Aroma: Dried fruit, orange blossom, crystallised fruit, caramel, almond, walnut and citrus peel.

Palate: Full and rounded with soft sweetness, dried fruit, nutty richness, gentle spice and lively acidity.

Finish: Long, fresh and mineral with lingering citrus, nuts, caramel and classic Madeira warmth.

Serving Suggestions

A lovely aperitif with salted nuts, olives, tapas, consommé, charcuterie, hard cheeses or savoury pastries. It also works beautifully with fruit cake, almond tart and caramel based desserts.

Once opened, Madeira keeps very well. Store in a cool place or in the fridge and enjoy over several months.

Vinhos Barbeito is one of Madeira’s most respected family producers. The company was founded in 1946 by Mário Barbeito de Vasconcelos and has remained in family hands ever since.
