Ayinger Maibock is a classic Bavarian spring strong beer, sitting lighter and brighter than the brewery’s darker Doppelbocks but still bringing plenty of malt richness.

Golden yellow in the glass, it opens with sweet malt, fresh bread and gentle floral hop notes. The palate is smooth and full bodied, with the natural sweetness of a traditional Bock balanced by Hallertau hops. At 6.9% ABV, there is a little warmth through the finish, but the beer stays polished and remarkably easy to drink.

This is a seasonal Bavarian Maibock from one of the region’s most respected family breweries. It delivers the richness of a strong lager without becoming heavy, making it a great choice if you like malty beers with a little extra strength and depth.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Sweet malt, fresh bread, floral hops and gentle honeyed notes.

Palate: Full bodied and smooth with rich malt, light sweetness and balanced Hallertau hop bitterness.

Finish: Warming and clean with lingering malt, gentle hops and a soft dry edge.

About The Brewery

Privatbrauerei Ayinger is based in Aying, south east of Munich, and traces its brewing history back to 1877. The brewery remains family owned and strongly focused on traditional Bavarian beer styles.

Maibock is one of Ayinger’s seasonal releases and is available from the end of March through May. It is bottom fermented and brewed as a pale Bock, with 16.5° Plato original gravity and Hallertau hops used to soften and balance the beer’s malt sweetness.

It is richer than a Helles, lighter than a dark Doppelbock and very easy to understand once poured. Spring beer, just with considerably more muscle.
