Ayinger Leichte Bräuweisse is proof that dropping the alcohol does not mean you have to drop the character as well.

Naturally cloudy and bright in the glass, it brings soft banana, fresh wheat, gentle citrus and classic yeast character, with lively carbonation keeping everything crisp and refreshing. At just 3.2% ABV, it is noticeably lighter than a standard Weissbier while still tasting unmistakably Bavarian.

This is a great choice when you want proper wheat beer flavour without the extra weight. Ayinger has managed to keep the fruit, softness and refreshing character of a traditional Weissbier while reducing the alcohol by around 40%.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Soft banana, fresh wheat, gentle yeast and delicate citrus.

Palate: Light bodied and lively with creamy wheat, mild fruit and refreshing carbonation.

About The Brewery

Privatbrauerei Ayinger is based in Aying, south east of Munich, and is one of Bavaria’s best known independent family breweries.

The brewery has built its reputation around traditional Bavarian styles, with a strong focus on balance and drinkability. Leichte Bräuweisse is particularly interesting because it retains the naturally cloudy character and familiar flavours of Weissbier while sitting at just 3.2% ABV.

Ayinger even describes it as a particular point of pride for its brewmaster, which makes sense. Making a strong beer taste good is one thing. Making a light beer taste like you have not taken anything important away is arguably the harder trick.
