Bondar Junto GSM 2025 is a bright, modern McLaren Vale red built around Grenache, with Mataro, Shiraz and Counoise bringing extra spice, structure and lift. It is made to be medium bodied, fresh and delicious, with blue and red fruits, fresh herbs and a lively savoury edge.

The 2025 blend is Grenache 72%, Mataro 13%, Shiraz 8% and Counoise 7%. The fruit is picked early to keep freshness, with around 20% whole bunch used to bring a gentle herbal tension and fine shape to the wine.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Raspberry, cherry, cranberry, blueberry, rose, fresh herbs, spice and a light savoury lift.

Palate: Medium bodied and juicy with red berry fruit, blue fruit, fine tannins, lively acidity and gentle earthy spice.

Finish: Fresh and smooth with lingering raspberry, dried herbs, spice and soft McLaren Vale warmth.

72/13/8/7% grenache (Rayner site and the Trott Vineyard)/mataro (Willunga)/shiraz (Rayner)/counoise (Rayner). There’s some bunch in the grenache, and the wine was raised in 1700–2700L vats. The medium weighted, accessible, everyday drinking red from Bondar, a wine made to fit the climate and culture of the region. And this nails it, again. Red fruits, pomegranate, cranberry, tart raspberry, rose petals, a background of dried herbs and spice. But it’s no disposable vin de soif, so informed it is by fine tannic detail, crunchy acidity and lingering flavour resonance. Such a beautiful thing. Marcus Ellis

About The Winery

Bondar Wines is a small family run McLaren Vale producer led by Andre Bondar and Selina Kelly. Their home is Rayner Vineyard on Chalk Hill Road, set on a hillside near the meeting point of Blewitt Springs and Seaview. Bondar acquired the vineyard in 2014, although the site has vine plantings dating back to the 1950s.

The vineyard is known for Shiraz and Grenache, with plantings also including varieties such as Counoise, Mataro, Carignan and Cinsault. Bondar’s style is focused on freshness, fragrance and balance, with earlier picking, gentle extraction and careful oak use helping create wines that feel bright, savoury and expressive rather than heavy.

Junto means “together”, a fitting name for a wine built from complementary varieties. Grenache brings perfume and juicy red fruit, Mataro adds savoury spice and structure, Shiraz gives deeper fruit, while Counoise adds freshness and lift.
