Chateau Du Moulin Noir Lussac Saint Emilion 2016 is a beautifully mature Bordeaux for anyone who enjoys reds with depth, softness and classic savoury character. It has had time in bottle, so the fruit feels rounder, the tannins are settling nicely and the wine is ready to enjoy now.

Made mostly from Merlot with Cabernet Franc adding perfume and structure, this 2016 shows black cherry, dark plum, tobacco, vanilla and gentle spice. It is full bodied and smooth, with a savoury finish that gives it that classic Right Bank Bordeaux feel.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Black cherry, dark plum, tobacco, vanilla, cedar, spice and a little earthy depth.

Palate: Full bodied and rounded with ripe dark fruit, softening tannins, balanced acidity and savoury Bordeaux character.

Finish: Smooth and lingering with plum, spice, tobacco, gentle oak and a dry savoury edge.

About The Winery

Chateau Du Moulin Noir sits in Lussac Saint Emilion, one of the satellite appellations of Saint Emilion on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. This area is known for Merlot led reds that bring together dark fruit, structure and earthy savoury depth.

The Tessandier family purchased the property in 1989 and has grown the estate across vineyards in Lussac Saint Emilion and Montagne Saint Emilion. The wines are made in a classic Bordeaux style, with Merlot giving generosity and plush fruit, while Cabernet Franc brings lift, spice and shape.

This 2016 vintage is now showing the benefit of bottle age. It is a great option for those who enjoy Bordeaux that has moved beyond bright primary fruit and into a softer, more savoury stage.
