About The Wine

MDI Skin Contact Grillo 2023 is a vibrant Murray Darling white made from the Sicilian variety Grillo in a lo-fi, skin contact style. It is bright, energetic and highly drinkable, with layers of citrus, florals and gentle phenolic texture giving the wine both freshness and character. Vegan friendly and bottled under cork at 12.4% ABV, it is a modern Australian take on Mediterranean varietal winemaking.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Lively lemon, white florals and a faint almond note.

Palate: Bright and textural, with tangy citrus, floral lift, gentle nuttiness and a softly skinsy feel through the palate.

Finish: Fresh, lightly savoury and persistent, with citrus peel and delicate phenolic grip carrying through the close.

Serving Suggestions

Serve lightly chilled with grilled prawns, white fish, antipasti, salty snacks or soft cheeses. It also works beautifully as an aperitif thanks to its freshness and bright texture.

About the Winery / Producer / Region

MDI is a small winemaking project based in Mildura, focused on modern, alternative variety wines with a lo-fi approach. The range leans into Italian grapes and expressive, contemporary styles, with this Grillo showing the project’s interest in texture, drinkability and a fresh take on Australian Mediterranean varieties.
