Vernaccia di San Gimignano is one of Italy’s most important white wine styles. Its history reaches back to the Middle Ages, and it has long been linked with the culture, food and landscape of San Gimignano. In 1966, Vernaccia di San Gimignano became the first Italian wine to receive DOC status, and in 1993 it was elevated to DOCG, Italy’s highest wine classification.

The vineyards around San Gimignano are shaped by Tuscan hills, sandy soils and clay. These conditions help give Vernaccia its mix of citrus fruit, floral detail, savoury freshness and characteristic almond finish.
