Reillys Watervale Riesling 2023 750ml

“Classic Watervale Riesling with lime, lemon, green apple and a crisp mineral finish.”

Reillys Watervale Riesling 2023 is classic Clare Valley Riesling territory, bright citrus, fresh acidity and that clean mineral character that makes Watervale such a natural home for the variety.

Lime and lemon lead the way, with green apple, delicate florals and subtle mineral notes adding extra detail. The palate is dry, crisp and refreshing, with plenty of citrus flavour carried by lively acidity through to a clean, persistent finish.

This is a very easy bottle to recommend if you like fresh Australian Riesling. It has enough flavour to enjoy on its own, enough acidity to work brilliantly with food and enough regional character to remind you why Watervale and Riesling have been getting along so well for decades.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Fresh lime, lemon, green apple and delicate citrus blossom.

Palate: Dry and lively with lime, lemon and crisp orchard fruit, supported by bright acidity and subtle minerality.

Finish: Clean and refreshing with lingering citrus, lime zest and a fine mineral edge.

Serving Suggestions

Excellent with oysters, prawns, grilled fish, calamari and fresh seafood.

It also works beautifully with Thai and Vietnamese dishes, fresh salads and lighter chicken dishes. The bright citrus and acidity are particularly good alongside dishes with a little chilli.

About The Winery

Reillys Wines is a family owned producer based in Mintaro in South Australia's Clare Valley, with vineyards spread across several parts of the region.

Watervale is particularly famous for Riesling, producing wines known for their citrus intensity, freshness and ability to develop beautifully with age. Reillys has built this wine around those classic regional characteristics, keeping the style dry, bright and very easy to enjoy.

There are wines that need a lengthy explanation before you know what you are getting. Watervale Riesling is thankfully not one of them.

Cellaring Potential

Drinking beautifully now for its fresh lime and citrus character, but Clare Valley Riesling can reward patience.

Enjoy now or cellar for around 5 to 8 years, when the bright citrus fruit should begin developing more complex toast and honeyed characters.
