Clonakilla Hilltops Shiraz 2024 is a beautifully fragrant New South Wales Shiraz from the Hilltops district around Young. Made from grapes grown by the Mullany and Gleeson families, it captures the polished Clonakilla style in a fresh, medium bodied and approachable way.

The 2024 vintage produced lower volumes of very high quality fruit, with ripe aromatics and intense flavour. Expect red fruits, dark berries, spice, savoury herbs and fine tannins, with a fresh line through the palate and enough structure for confident short to medium term cellaring.

Aroma: Red cherry, raspberry, dark plum, violets, dried herbs, white pepper and gentle spice.

Palate: Medium bodied and silky with red and dark berry fruit, savoury spice, fresh acidity and fine tannins.

Finish: Long and elegant with lingering cherry, pepper, herbs and subtle savoury depth.

About The Winery

Clonakilla is one of Australia’s most respected family wine producers, established by John Kirk at Murrumbateman in 1971. The winery helped pioneer the Canberra District wine region and is especially known for elegant, aromatic Shiraz based wines with finesse, perfume and structure.

The name Clonakilla means “meadow of the church” and comes from the Kirk family’s Irish heritage. Over time, Clonakilla became a benchmark producer for refined Australian Shiraz, led by the Kirk family and closely associated with wines that show cool regional character, spice, florals and fine tannin shape.

The Hilltops district sits around Young on the south western slopes of New South Wales. Its elevated sites, warm days and cooler nights help produce Shiraz with bright fruit, spice and freshness. Clonakilla’s Hilltops Shiraz is fermented in open fermenters, then matured in French oak for 12 months, with around 10 percent new oak used for balance and subtle structure.

This wine can be enjoyed now or cellared with confidence for more than 10 years. Drink now to 2034 under good storage conditions. Over time, expect the fresh berry fruit to gain more savoury spice, leather, dried herb and earthy complexity.
